Sweater weather, changing leaves, and pumpkin spice everything - it's officially FALL!
While we'll miss our days spent at the beach or by the pool, there are a lot of new autumn activities to be excited about! The temperatures might be going down, but it's not quite time to take everything indoors.
Fall is one of the best seasons to get active and enjoy all the seasonal activities, especially the ones that can help you stay healthy and fit going into the holiday season. Take a look at our list of activities to do this fall that can help keep you and the family happy and healthy!
It's a chore we have to get done, so why not make the most of it? Depending on your speed or yard size, you can burn up to 400 calories for half an hour of vigorous raking. (Strap on some light ankle weights for even more of a burn while cleaning up the yard!)
Getting active and checking one thing off your to-do list? Talk about a win-win!
Knifing through and scooping out a pumpkin to make your yearly jack o'lantern is a workout on its own. But once you're done, don't toss out those seeds! Pumpkin seeds contain fiber, antioxidants, and good minerals like magnesium.
Just add a little olive oil and salt, then pop them in the oven for a yummy snack!
Instead of getting your pumpkins from the grocery store, take your family or friends to a local pumpkin patch. You'll be surprised how much time you will spend walking around and enjoying the fresh fall air while looking for the perfect pumpkin.
(Bonus points for carrying the pumpkins back to the car instead of using a wheelbarrow!)
Check out PumpkinPatchesandMore.org to find a pumpkin patch in your local area.
As summer sports and activities end, all our favorite fall activities are just starting! There will be fall festivals, local races, school events, and more happening this holiday season that needs volunteers like you to help.
Volunteering is a great way to get out of the house and spend some time getting extra steps in while giving back to your community!
Check out VolunteerMatch.org to find volunteer opportunities near you.
Having your friends, family, or neighbors over cheering on your favorite NFL team is a surefire joy boost for your mental health. But if the weather is nice, why not take the gang outside for a quick game of your own?
It's a great way to get off the couch and get some activity in! A game of touch football or a simple game of catch can make for an awesome workout with all the running, lunging, squatting, and throwing you'll be doing.
Best of all, shopping at Farmer's markets helps support local farmers and artisans!
Find time to explore a nearby farmer's market and get a fresh fruit or vegetable to try in a yummy, healthy autumn recipe!
