4 Holiday Hints from O2 Fitness

It's that time of year....AGAIN!  The season of overeating, it starts sometime around Halloween, with your kid's candy and ends somewhere around Valentine's Day, with chocolates from your sweetie! In between the endless holiday parties and shopping, we fall off the workout wagon. Here are a couple of useful hints to get you through the holiday binging.

4 Healthy Holiday Hints!

  1. Try to maintain a workout routine. If you normally come to an O2 Fitness center 4x a week, but during the holiday season only 2x a week, that's OK, 2 is better than none.
  2. Be prepared. If you're going out to a restaurant, look at the menu beforehand so you make smarter choices, instead of impulsive ones. If you're attending a party, eat a little something before you get there. If you arrive hungry you will be more likely to become tempted by unhealthy treats. Better yet, bring your own healthy option, so you know exactly what you are eating and you can share your health initiative with your friends.
  3. Drink less alcohol. Alcohol has a lot of empty calories, and alcohol is known to increase our appetite. Try to drink in moderation, or stick to water or sparkling cranberry juice with a twist of lime instead.
  4. Practice using the word no.  Your friends and family will be offering up food all over the place.  Don't feel obligated to eat everything offered to you.
