Starting at a new gym can be intimidating. If you are used to an instructor telling you exactly what to do, stepping onto the main gym floor to train on your own can feel like a lot to figure out.
O2 Fitness member Stephanie Genty knows that feeling very well. Having always been part of studio fitness gyms, she found herself relying on someone else to program her workouts and motivate her. But when a long commute and a lack of childcare forced her to look for a new facility, she found her strongest self at O2 Fitness Clubs and completely transformed her approach to wellness.
Here is how Stephanie stepped out of her comfort zone and found a routine she loves!
Making a Convenient Switch
Consistency is the hardest part of every fitness journey, and a long drive to the gym makes it even harder. Stephanie needed a club that was closer to home and offered reliable childcare.
"My current gym didn’t have child watch, and it was quite the drive," Stephanie recalls. "I thought I’d give O2 a try since it checked both of those boxes for me, and I have been very happy that I made that switch!"

From Class-Goer to Solo Training
At O2 Fitness, we absolutely love our Group Fitness community. Our instructors are incredibly passionate, welcoming, and fun-loving (not to mention brilliant at designing workouts and offering the perfect modifications for every body!) But we also know that, depending on your goals, you may need other ways to train or time to do your own thing
When Stephanie joined, she decided to try training on her own. "It took some time to get comfortable working out by myself. No one to motivate me and no one to program the workouts, just me, myself and I," she admits.
But that initial nervousness quickly fades once you get going. With O2's friendly vibe, plenty of open space to move around, and equipment that's actually easy to use, Stephanie found her groove. "Now, I love the flexibility of programming my own workouts, and I’ve met some great people!"
Whether you want to sweat it out in a cycle class or put your headphones in for a solo lifting session, O2 Fitness is designed to support your preferred way to move.
Support Where It Matters Most
You can't focus on your workout if you are worried about your kids. A major part of Stephanie's successful transition was the peace of mind provided by O2's Kids Club.
"The child watch has been a godsend," she shares. "I have a 9-year-old autistic boy who I am very protective of, and I feel very comfortable leaving him in child watch while I work out."
Knowing that our friendly, attentive staff is providing a safe and fun environment for her son allows Stephanie to fully unplug and focus on her own health.
