As a fitness professional I get asked many questions and told many things during assessments with potential clients. One of the most common things I hear is the lack of strength training and weight lifting people do in their workout routines.
Strength training is the number 1 most important thing you can do for you body. Not only does it make you look better, but it betters your life as a whole.
One pound of fat takes up 18% more room on the body than one pound of muscle; which is why individuals with higher body fat percentages look bigger. To avoid this fate I strongly suggest incorporating at least 3 days of strength training a week.
For people that are trying to lose weight, lifting will help speed up that process. Adding resistance training to your workout helps burn 40% more calories then just cardio alone.
You are technically tearing down your muscles. We do this to build them back up! The energy that your body uses to do this process is where we burn tons of calories! This means you're burning calories even after you are done with your workout!
Incorporate some weights into your routine! Become an all around better, healthier you.
There is nothing wrong with being strong!
