Did you know that more than 1/3 of New Year's resolutions pertain to health, weight, and nutrition? Did you also know that 77% of people's resolutions are kept for no longer than one week?!
The start of the New Year is a time when most of us assess our physical and mental states of well-being. And yet, in this country, more than one third of Americans are obese. Trying to come up with ways to lose weight, exercise, and just feel healthier can be overwhelming, and it can be difficult to stay motivated.
Benefits of Joining a Fitness Club
The great thing about belonging to a fitness club is the community support and motivation that it can provide in the right circumstances and around the right people. Trying different classes, meeting different people, experiencing different cardio and weight equipment choices available, maybe even trying out some personal training, can all help you find a niche that works for you and the ability to create your fitness path and goals. As far as weight loss, and learning (or remembering) how to eat moderately and healthy, I think a nutrition maintenance and education plan can be very successful.
You Don't Have to Figure Out Fitness Alone!
If you are struggling with your health and you are ready to start exercising (or exercising more), and lose some weight, don't try to do it alone...reach out for help! I know how difficult it can be...it takes so much courage and strength to ask for help, and get yourself out there to try things that are unfamiliar, and yes, even hard. But I guarantee you the journey will be so worth it.
Seek Assistance from Fitness Professionals
First consider seeing your physician for a physical and some guidance and assistance in getting started. Then come to the gym. There are lots of us here (staff and members) at the different O2 Fitness locations who are knowledgeable and passionate, and very able to help you.
If you do exercise but do it sporadically, it's time to up the game, and exercise a minimum of 4-5 days per week. If you are already fit and exercise regularly and are in that amazing zone, consider sharing some of that passion and experience with others! Reach out to someone you see who may seem nervous or be struggling (especially before and during a group fitness class).
Offering a smile and a word of encouragement can have an amazing effect anytime and anywhere, not just at the gym. Telling someone they look good makes the receiver feel both happy and appreciative, and more likely to pass on a compliment to another person.
